Dear St. Charles Parents,

Perseverance is the theme of the week in our morning prayer and how fitting it is for our students and staff as we strive for excellence and spring break. We’re really to the end of March for school days, and the pace of the year is about to really pick up when we return to school. Hang on tight, parents! March is long, April is fast, and May doesn’t really exist because it goes so quickly!

In early March, we put out a request for Borromeo Bash grade-level donations. Please consider this way of making a small, simple donation to this very important fundraiser at our school! Please see below for information about how to do this, it is easy! I promise.

Last Thursday, I traveled down to the senators’ building across the street from the state capitol building. I met with Matt Hughes from the Minnesota Catholic Conference. Matt prepped me for my meeting with Senator Kunesh, who is also the chair of the education committee among senators. I was able to express all of the good reasons for keeping nonpublic pupil funding intact for St. Charles and other nonpublic schools. The information was well received. She said that this was a difficult issue, and they have difficult decisions to make on budgeting. She said that she would take what I had to say into consideration. Parents, I can’t stress enough how important it is for us to be heard on this issue. This is tens of thousands of dollars we would need to find another way to raise. Please contact your senator!

Floor Hockey is now officially over with one of our 8th grade classrooms winning the Staff/Student Tournament last Friday. The game was a thriller as it always is. The students were able to tie the game with a few minutes left on a short-handed goal following a very controversial penalty call by… an 8th grader against a certain principal. Everyone enjoyed the game and now onto spring sports.

Conferences are going quite well! Thank you for your attendance and cooperation, especially in middle school. We appreciate and value our time in conversation with the parents of our students. This brings the second trimester to a strong finish.

Please check out the 2025-26 one-page school calendar.  I know that some of you are planning vacations and trips for the year ahead and would like to know when the vacation days will be. Also, for those of you with a 6th grader next year, please consider chaperoning the Wolf Ridge Environmental Learning trip. You and your child will make memories of a lifetime; it is worth requesting the time off now to make sure you can go next November.

From all of us at school, God bless your break, be safe, and we look forward to having your children back in the bricks of St. Charles School very soon.

God bless you,

Danny Kieffer
