St. Charles is excited to be partnering with Reading Corps this year! We renovated our Max Lab space this summer and now there are 6 workstations and a place for whiteboard instruction. This design is set up for one-on-one and small group intervention/tutoring. In the Max Lab students will receive special services from St. Anthony district personnel and Reading Corps services from Cindy Brown-Kasel (our Reading Corps tutor) and Grace Osterbauer (our resource teacher). Our efforts in reaching all learners also includes Mrs. Osterbauer providing “push in” services in our classrooms.

We are excited to have them join our St. Charles staff and to be a Reading Corps school this year! Both staff are trained to provide daily 1:1 sessions with K-3 students who score “below target” on benchmark testing. They will provide targeted reading skill practice primarily in the areas of phonemic awareness, phonics, and fluency. Grace will also support our middle school staff as a resource teacher for 6th grade math, ELA, and possibly science.
